Socially awkward

Have you ever felt that you stick out like a sore thumb in social settings, or you blend in with the wall paper as if you weren’t even there? A number of us have trouble understanding social context and behaving appropriately. So, how does the social butterfly do it as they flutter and float from person to person and conversation to conversation with such ease and grace?

In social settings you must appropriately gauge your personality and the social context. There must be a balance between who you are and what is expected of people in any societal group. It takes understanding and practice to nail it, whether you are an extrovert or introvert. The introvert may certainly have to do a lot more work than the extrovert, but it is work that will pay off.

We cannot avoid people, we cannot avoid society, so we must find a way to cope with it as best we can and in a manner that is acceptable to others. There is no social disadvantage that cannot be overcome by careful planning, preparation and desire to benefit from the advantage of society.
